"Hilton Head Island is a special place, anyone who has ever been there will tell you and the locals will show you. On a recent visit to Hilton Head, I had the opportunity to rent a beach cruiser and tour the island with a local friend. Bike rental locations are abundant on the island. We picked up our bikes and quickly headed for the beach. Coming from the mountains, we have beach cruisers, but to actually be riding the beach cruiser on the beach was a truly unique experience. On the beach we saw families doing their thing, tons of joggers and walkers, many other cruisers and had the best time understanding the location of the island in relation to Daufuskie Island. After about 6 miles on the beach, we headed inland a bit and I had my first taste of the amazing trail system the town builds and maintains. It’s an amazing trail system; we toured the interior of the island and then popped out at Sea Pines to check out the golf course and the marina. The sweet thing about biking on Hilton Head Island is that you can make a morning or a day of the activity and really get a quality feel for the island. Hilton Head offers so many distinct and special spots, getting to see them on bike is a great way to experience the island."
