Palmetto Dunes Plantation is located on Hilton Head Island between Port Royal and Shipyard Plantations between mile markers 8 & 9. There are many private residences along with a number of complexes offering short-term and long-term rentals. There are two hotels, the Marriott Golf Resort and Hilton Resort. Among the many amenities offered by these resorts are two fine restaurants each, outdoor dining and bar areas. Alexander’s restaurant is also located in the plantation. There’s also a general store offering all the usual supplies and goodies for vacationers.
For tennis enthusiasts, there is the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center located next to the Robert Trent Jones golf course. The Jones course is one of three courses, the other two are the George Fazio and Arthur Hills. These are three of the finest courses on Hilton Head Island.
Palmetto Outfitters offers bicycle rentals along with kayaks, rowboats and canoes. The Dunes House, on the beach, is located just inside the North gate. Dunes House has been the site of many weddings and other gatherings throughout the years. There is a wonderful system of lagoons and waterways allowing for kayaking and canoeing throughout the area. The scenery all through the plantation is lovely, and the flowers and other plantings are well maintained year round.
Shelter Cove is also a part of Palmetto Dunes Plantation that is located on the other side of Rt. 278. Here, you’ll find Shelter Cove Marina that is host to many activities including fishing and dolphin excursions. Several restaurants and unique shops, where you may browse and buy Hilton Head memorabilia and other fine gifts, border the marina. During the summer season, there is a FREE shuttle called the "Palmetto Dunes Buggy" which transports people from one place to another throughout the plantation and Shelter Cove.
All in all, Palmetto Dunes on Hilton Head Island is a great place to rent or live any time of the year.
