The Sea Pines Plantation is really the birthplace of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina as we know it today. With over five miles of white sandy beaches, three championship golf courses, miles of scenic bike paths, two marinas, the famous Harbour Town red and white striped lighthouse, numerous boutiques, shops and restaurants and the incredible natural beauty, it's no surprise that it has a worldwide reputation for a great vacation destination.

The Sea Pines Plantation has so much to do and experience. Consider all the options for a more active vacation which include renting a kayak, going ocean fishing, a dolphin cruise, horseback riding, tennis, golf, shopping, walking the beach, parasailing, jet skiing, bike riding along miles of bike paths and so much more. For children, there is nothing like attending a Greg Russell sing along under a 100 year old live oak tree in Harbour Town. And, not staying in a beachfront accommodation is not a problem when you have the Sea Pines Beach Club. I offers a tiki bar, lunch grill, and bathroom facilities for added convenience.

The natural beauty of the island and particularly this plantation is something that visitors look forward to enjoying year after year. Heavily forested with majestic oaks laced with Spanish moss, numerous lagoons and frequently seen alligators, palms and free roaming deer contribute to making Sea Pines a natural semi tropical paradise at the south end of the Island. The 605acre Sea Pines Forest Preserve has approx. 8 miles of trails that follow ante-bellum rice dikes from the 1840s and old logging trails from the 1950s. Bridle paths, wetland boardwalks, observation decks, bridges and fishing docks have been added to improve visitior access. The trails are open from sunrise to sunset. There is a fishing pond and an Indian Shell Ring -- early native Indians left their history in large rings of shells. There is a self-guided tour brochure and guided nature walks are available on a limited schedule. Vacationers love Sea Pines and it's easy to understand why. A map of Hilton Head Island shows the shape is like a tennis shoe. The Sea Pines plantation is the "toe" of the sneaker. Within the gate guarded plantation are great homes both large and small and many wonderful villas.
